Who else has a 30 minute lunch break? Does anyone else feel like this time can be very unproductive? I hate the feeling of being unproductive during the day and often end up working through lunch, so I decided to come up with some other productive things to do during a 30 minute lunch break.

  1. Meal Plan - I have started using one or two days a week to meal plan and look up new recipes. This not only helps with grocery lists but keeps me from getting bored with the same meals over and over again.
  2. Learn a New Skill - Is there something new you want to learn? Maybe knitting or web design! This is a good time to look up articles and tutorials online and you can learn that skill in no time. I am currently working on learning to use a new camera.
  3. Update your Resume - Let's be real when was the last time you even looked at your resume? It is definitely is time for an update! There are probably other things that need to be updated as well. Things like addresses if you have moved recently or revisit the websites you are subscribed to and if you no longer use them unsubscribe.
  4. Self Care - Do something that clears your mind and makes you happy. Take this 30 minutes and recharge by reading a book, calling a friend or family member, knitting, or anything else that takes you mind off work for a few minutes and helps to de-stress.
  5. Register to Vote - I recently registered online because I have moved multiple times since the last major election, it took me about five minutes from start to finish. You can also use this time to research the candidates in your local area. The deadline to register in Wisconsin is October 17th with the ability to register at the polls on election day. The New York Times compiled a list of Voter Registration Deadlines for each state which you can find here.
I hope this helps with some ideas to fill your lunch break. Comment below what some things you like to do during you lunch break are.

We all know I have a bit of a crafting habit, and more than that I have a buying craft supplies habit. I have found some great deals lately and as always have big plans for the things I want to create. I am very very excited to create some of the things in my head with these materials.

When I was at my parents recently my mom, aunt and I went to several craft specialty stores. The first was Jerry's Quilt Patch in Norway Michigan. At the time she was having a sale on some fat quarter bundles where it was buy one get one free. I got two for myself and my aunt got one and gave me her free one.

We also went to Bijou Lovely in Iron Mountain Michigan, which is one of the cutest stores ever. They sell different sewing notions, some material, patterns, embroidery supplies and many other adorable gifts. I got some leather handles for tote bags. I also got several more pieces of fabric. These are part of the Rifle Paper Co. fabric line and I am obsessed with them, but when am I not obsessed with something from Rifle Paper Co.

I got yarn from several places. One was from WhatSaraKnits Instagram De-Stash sale. From that I picked up a skein of Song Byrdy Allegro Super Bulky yarn in Lunar Blush. It is kind of a light greyish-green color with a little bit of light pink in it. I can't wait to make this into a chunky hat.

Also from WhatSaraKnits De-stash sale I picked up two skeins of Ford Explorer Fibers in the colorway Plant Sale which I believe was a custom color. I have no idea what I am going to make out of this but I love the colors in it.

From Rainbow Yarn and Gifts in Norway Michigan I picked up some Encore by Plymouth Yarn Company. I use this to make kids hats when I have knitters block.

I also picked up two skeins of Plymouth Yarn's Baby Alpaca Worsted in a dark grey color. I have a hat planned for this yarn which I hope to get on the needles soon.

What crafting supplies have you picked up recently?
Happy Crafting.

I LOVE good food! This unfortunately is complicated by being gluten intolerant but I do my best to work around it and always am able to find something to eat. One of my favorite things to do is explore restaurants as well as to go back to favorites and try as many things on their menu as possible. This is a round up of the food pictures I have taken in the past month.

DiModa - Fig and Prosciutto Pizza. This pizza was so good I have had it twice in one month!

Good City Brewing Company - Chicken Sandwich on Gluten Free Bun with Curry Fries

Beerline Cafe - Crepe Suzette

Beerline Cafe - Rosemary-Garlic Red Potatoes and Strawberry Turmeric Lemonade, had with the Crepe Suzette

Summerfest - Bacon Wrapped Prime Rib Bites from Ward's House of Prime Rib. These were SO AMAZING!

Summerfest - Prime Rib Sandwich from Ward's House of Prime Rib. Ended up not eating the bun just the prime rib.

Summerfest - Lemonade. This is the only way the cup would fit in my hand. Amazing Lemonade!

Kompali - Tacos (from left to right) Nopales (sauteed cactus), Shrimp, and Al Pastor all on Corn Tortillas. Not a fan of the cactus the texture was off for me. With a Mango Margarita to drink.

Finally have counter space for my panini maker. This was one of my go-to's this month. Turkey, Pepper Jack Cheese, Spinach, Tomato and Mayo on Trader Joe's multi grain Gluten Free Bread,

Beerline Cafe - Hash Brown Benedict. This was very good and I was pleasantly surprised by the tofu ham.

Beerline Cafe - paired with the previous picture a Honey and Fresh Berries Crepe

Fushinami - My boyfriend and his cousin wanted sushi, I don't like sushi so I go the Seafood Delight. This was seriously the best seafood I have had! Every piece was cooked perfectly.

The Loaded Slate - Mimosa mini pitcher

The Loaded Slate - Loaded Omelette. I got Bell Peppers, Bacon and BBQ Pulled Pork. Paired with their Pub Fries.

I know this is super late but I am going to go for it anyway! I have been busy with moving, see item one, and neglected my blog for a few weeks. Now that most of my portion of the move is complete I am hoping to get on a relatively normal blogging schedule.
On to my Summer Bucket List:

I packed the important things first, all my yarn!

1. Move - my boyfriend says this doesn't count but I was super excited to move and am very happy that unpacking is almost done.

2. Patios - there are only so many days of truly nice weather in the Midwest so might as well take advantage of the good ones by moving cocktail hour outside!

An amazing outdoor brunch...More details to come!

3. Sculpture Milwaukee - There are 22 sculpture on Wisconsin Ave in Milwaukee this summer and I want to see them all! More information here
4. Play Tennis - I played tennis for years growing up and my boyfriend played competitively through college and will still occasionally play in some for fun tournaments. We played once earlier this spring and had a blast so we definitely need to play more frequently.
5. Go to the Zoo - I haven't been to the Zoo since I was a kid...enough said!
6. Maxwell Street Days - This is a huge flee market...Never know when and where you are going to find the next treasure for home decor!

A picture of the city from the Sky Glider at Summerfest!

7. See Family - Again the Midwest only has great weather for a few short months and family always tries to visit during this time. I want to see as many of them as possible!
8. Read a Book - I haven't read and finished a book in what feels like an extremely long time! I do read though, it is just mostly scientific papers and textbooks.
9. Outdoor Concerts - I want to go to a bunch of outdoor concerts! We went to Summerfest this past Sunday and it was amazing. I also really want to check out Jazz in the Park.
10. Go to a Brewers Game - Baseball games are always more fun in person than on TV!

Working on my What the Fade Shawl in the car on the way to visit family!

11. Outdoor Movie Night - Spending time outdoors is a must. It looks like there are several free movie nights in parks near us...Why not check one out!

12. Finish my What the Fade Shawl - I started this towards the end of last summer and I think it is time to finish it up!

Let me know some of your favorite book recommendations below!

Like many people in the fiber community I started seeing the FibreShare posts on Instagram a little over a year ago. I instantly fell in love with the gorgeous pictures and idea of making friends and getting a box of yarn.

So how FibreShare works is you sign up and pay a fee to be in the program (I paid $7 but I think the latest round went up to $8). Through matching you get two partners. The partner you send to and the partner who sends to you. The fee partially goes into running everything but also goes to sending replacement packages if they get lost in the mail or a partner is unable to send one for some reason.

I signed up for the first round of this year and got my partner information on January 26th. With in a few days I was talking with the partner who would be sending me a box on Instagram and emailing with the partner I was sending to.

So with my partner information I got to work on the box I was sending. I had a lot of fun putting a box together and went to three yarn stores in the process. I felt the box I sent was relatively well rounded and would be exciting to get.

The deadline to send boxes for this round was March 4th. I sent my partners box on March 3rd and it was on the other side of the country in about three days. Then I started waiting for my box. I knew there was a lot of bad weather on the East Coast (where mine was coming from) so I waited patiently.

After two weeks I contacted my partner and she told me it must have gotten lost in the mail. At this point I was thinking okay it happens I will just submit a missing package report. Then my partner messaged me saying she was going to send a second box. So I waited to submit the report. So I waited and waited and waited some more. I reported a missing package on April 13th which was right around the deadline to report a missing package.

The missing package investigation was not a short process, but I understand why they want to get to the bottom of things. I finally got a replacement package on May 18th, WELL over a month after the final shipping date
.

I was not disappointed with the replacement package and will use the yarn I was sent.

Overall I am still really disappointed that I didn't get more interactive partners and that my actual partner didn't send a box. It was also disheartening that the partner sending to me was selling parts of her stash online, many things I would not have minded getting in a box. I do not think she ever attempted to send me a box and if she was unable to for some reason or another it would have at least been nice to have been told one wasn't coming. It was honestly very upsetting to be waiting excitedly for a box and then not only not get one but realizing you were lied to about it.

In the end it took way more time and energy than I was expecting but FibreShare did hold up their end of the bargain and I did get a replacement package.

Will I do this again? Most likely not. Next time I want a mystery box I will order a yarn mystery box from a dyer or have someone close to me choose something.

Hope you have better luck than me.

Wandering around the East Side one day I dragged my boyfriend into a little gift shop. This was sometime in early April and we have since been back at least four times!

If possible I absolutely love to shop local. Shopping local supports people within my communities and helps to keep shops I love open! I especially love shops like this because I am able to find unique gifts their intended recipient likely doesn't have and will hopefully love.

I got both of my parents the Milwaukee Skyline Mugs for Mother's/Father's day, I knew if I didn't get them both one my dad would glom on to my moms (I was right he was eyeing it the first time she used it). I also found all natural bug spray (from Tippecanoe Herbs) and lip balm for my mom. I got a lip balm for myself as well and it is my current favorite. I can't wait to try some of their other bath and body products.

My boyfriend got his mom a candle for mothers day. It is currently not available in The Waxwing online shop, it was Love Potion #9 by Brookly Candle Studio and it smelled AMAZING!

For his dads birthday he picked up a copy of State of Craft Beer, which is such a cool coffee table book.

Recently I saw they had restocked some mugs and knew I needed to get them for one of my best friends and I.

Another thing I absolutely love about this store is their support of different causes. During Pride Fest they donated 10% of all sales to CourageMKE supporting LGBTQ youth. This week they are supporting different causes donating 10% of all sales daily to help with the Crisis at the US with Immigrant Families and Refugees. These are just two examples I have noticed since following them!

I 100% plan on shopping here in the future, both for home items for myself as well as gift!

Note: All pictures were taken from The Waxwing Instagram...Since most of these were gifts I forgot to take pictures before they were wrapped. I will link what I can below.

In August or September of 2017 I attempted to complete the What the Fade Mystery Knit Along by Andrea Mowry. Many good things happened during this time but life got in the way. There was a new job, a rapid move, and lots of new friends. However, not a lot of time for knitting especially for a big project, so it got put to the side in favor of smaller projects.

I recently picked back up my shawl and am slowly plugging away at it. The brioche section is finished and I am part way into "Garter Town". Currently I am on section five out of nine, but the rows keep increasing so it is hard to say if I am truly half way or not.

So far my thoughts are:
1. It is very big and relatively intimidating if I am super busy
2. When I am working on it there are very repetitive patterns, making it good Netflix watching knitting.
3. I am really happy with the colors I chose.
4. I think I will like that it is really large when it is finished and I can use/wear it.

What is a project (knitting or non-knitting) that you are currently working on?
